The Emergency Medical Services (EMS) team of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) successfully conducted an emergency medical transport and patient assistance operation for a 72-year-old female resident of Alhamdullilah, Timpul, Isabela City, Basilan.

The patient was referred from Infante Hospital for further medical evaluation and advanced treatment following complaints of chest pain, difficulty breathing, and frequent episodes of diarrhea. Based on medical assessment, she was initially diagnosed with Ischemic Heart Disease and was later found to have Cardiac Arrhythmia and Amoebiasis, conditions that required continuous monitoring and specialized medical care.

Upon arrival, the PDRRMO EMS team conducted a comprehensive assessment. The patient was conscious and alert with a Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) score of 15/15. Her recorded vital signs were within stable parameters, including a blood pressure of 120/80 mmHg, pulse rate of 84 beats per minute, respiratory rate of 21 breaths per minute, oxygen saturation of 98% with oxygen support via nasal cannula at 3 liters per minute, and a body temperature of 36.8°C.

Prior to transport, the patient underwent several laboratory and diagnostic procedures, including Complete Blood Count (CBC), stool examination, fasting blood sugar testing, liver function tests, creatinine assessment, and electrocardiogram (ECG). Results of the ECG revealed sinus rhythm with Premature Ventricular Contractions (PVCs) and Premature Atrial Contractions (PACs), requiring continued cardiac monitoring and specialist consultation.

The EMS team ensured that all prescribed medications and supportive treatments for the patient’s heart condition, diabetes management, and infection control were properly administered before transport. The patient was then safely transferred to a higher-level medical facility to receive specialized care and further evaluation.
